The Dallam and Hartley Counties Historical Association is honored to dedicate this History Book, "A TALE OF TWO COUNTIES", DALLAM and HARTLEY, to the pioneers who settled this Panhandle Land. Hundreds of people are responsible for the publishing of this book and to them we are grateful. When the Dallam-Hartley Counties Historical Association made plans to publis a Bi-County History Book in June of 1983, the XIT Museum became the headquarters for the Book Project. We mailed out four thousand letters urging everyone who lives in the two county area, or has ever lived here to write their family history for the book. We received 844 Family Stories, and they are treasures of history. Illustrated with many photographs and news stories about the area and its' rich history, Tale of Two Counties is a must for anyone interested in the history and heritage of Dallam and HArtley Counties.
